Here's a piece of good news for the applicants of the Delhi Development Authority (DDA) housing scheme. The two websites that were displaying the results of the draw are now opening. Earlier, many were facing problems while logging onto the sites. The sites - www.dda.org.in or www.urbanindia.nic.in, were not opening till afternoon.

Besides the sites, the DDA has also promised to publish the results in major newspapers on Wednesday.

Earlier in the day, a number of calls were received at NDTV.com with people complaining that they were unable to view the results on the DDA website and asking for an alternative way to do so.

It was a day many in Delhi had been waiting for with fingers crossed - the DDA allotted 5,000 flats through a computer lottery. At the Vikas Sadan office where applicants had been collecting since morning, the display of results had mixed news. An exultant Ratnesh Kumar Maheshwari, whose name appeared in the list, said, Earlier, I used to stay in a rented house. But now, I'll have a flat of my own.

On the other hand, Harish Kumar, whose name did not figure in the list, said he was not lucky this time. I will try next time because it is still affordable, he said.

The lottery process, which began at 12 noon, saw hundreds of applicants protesting and shouting slogans outside the DDA's office at Vikas Sadan. The protesting applicants said they were told that the draw would be shown live to them on a screen to ensure transparency. But they were not being allowed inside the building. Instead, they' d been asked to check the result at 3 pm on the DDA website.

The 5,000 DDA flats range from Rs 7 to 77 lakh in cost. They've been built in some of Delhi's most-wanted colonies like Dwarka, Rohini and Vasant Kunj.

The fact that they are 50 per cent cheaper than market rates for these areas makes them priceless. And to avoid any controversy, the lottery was supervised by IIT teachers.

The Gadsden Purchase (known as Venta de La Mesilla, or "Treaty of La Mesilla", in Mexico^[2]) is a 29,670-square-mile (76,800 km²) region of what is today southern Arizona and New Mexico that was purchased by the United States in a treaty signed by President Franklin Pierce on June 24, 1853, and then ratified by the U.S. Senate on April 25, 1854. It is named for James Gadsden, the American ambassador sent to Mexico at the time. The purchase included lands south of the Gila River and west of the Rio Grande. The Gadsden Purchase was intended to allow for the construction of a transcontinental railroad along a very southern route, and it was part of negotiations needed to finalize border issues that remained unresolved from the Treaty of Guadalupe-Hidalgo, which had ended the Mexican-American War of 1846–48.

As the railroad age grew, business-oriented Southerners saw that a railroad linking the South with the Pacific Coast would expand trade opportunities. However, the topography of the southern portion of the Mexican Cession was too mountainous to allow a direct route, and what possible routes existed tended to run to the north at their eastern ends, which would favor connections with northern railroads. That would ultimately favor Northern seaports. Any practical route with a southeastern terminus, in order to avoid the mountains, would need to swing south into what was then Mexican territory.

The administration of Franklin Pierce, strongly influenced by Secretary of War Jefferson Davis, saw this as an opportunity not only to acquire land for the railroad, but also to take title to significant other territory from northern Mexico. In the end, territory for the railroad was purchased for $10 million, but Mexico balked at any large-scale surrender of territory. In the United States, the debate over the treaty became involved in the sectional dispute over slavery, and no further progress was made before theAmerican Civil War in the planning or construction of a transcontinental railroad.

According to CNN Report's an F-18 fighter plane has crashed in San Diego. The pilot ejected from the plane before it went down, but there is no word yet on the health of the pilot. At least one house has been destroyed.

This little erotic thriller has the added attraction of being set in exotic India, complete with the erotic carvings on temples & themes of re-incarnation. of course, other films have used those elements too (Tropical Heat, Monsoon, etc). only this time, the Indian girl is played by Shannon McLeod. it would've been REALLY something if the (then-popular) Bollywood star Anu Agarwal had played the role as planned, but she dropped out after shooting began & Ms. McLeod came in.

still, i doubt Anu would have done the kind of steamy scenes Shannon did (with ample nudity). however, all that hard work by Shannon is somewhat clumsily & hurriedly edited, which mean either that the film was tampered with post-release, or that B Subhash can't even make good softcore films.

for some reason, this is a really obscure title (a while back this didn't even exist on this website!!!). i was lucky enough to have seen it back in 1997. despite its shortcomings, this one is worth looking for.

610 transfer orders Department of School Education Andhra pardesh

(1) In the G.O.3^rd read above, Government in General Administration Department has issued instructions / guidelines for repatriation of the non-local candidates who were appointed in deviation of the Presidential Orders, as identified by the respective Departments by reviewing the direct recruitments made from 1975 onwards, to their respective local cadres to which the candidates belong to, as per the definition of ‘Local Area’ under the Presidential Order 1975.

(2) The Director of School Education, Hyderabad in his letter, 4^th read above has submitted proposals, as per the instructions and guidelines issued in the G.O. 3^rd read above, for transfer of 1968 teachers who are currently working in various districts of the State and who were initially appointed in such districts through the selections made by the respective district’s District Selection Committees in the years 2000, 2001, 2002, and 2003, in violation of the reservations for local candidates as prescribed in the Presidential Order 1975. The Director of School Education has further reported that in respect of each district, the selections made by the respective district’s District Selection Committee for the years 2000, 2001, 2002 and 2003 have been reviewed as per the Government instructions in this regard; and has furnished the DSC wise/District wise lists of teachers who were appointed in violation of the reservation for locals under the Presidential Order, 1975; and has requested the Government to issue appropriate orders for repatriation of these teachers to their respective local cadres. He has also furnished the DSC wise/District-wise lists of such teachers who are to be repatriated.

(3) Government after careful consideration of the above proposals and in terms of para 5(2)(c) of Presidential Order 1975, in public interest, hereby order the repatriation of 1968 teachers who were recruited through the District Selection Committees of respective districts in the entire state for the years 2000, 2001, 2002 & 2003, in violation of the reservation for local candidates as prescribed under the Presidential Order, to their respective local cadres as shown in the Annexure to this order.

(4) As these transfers are being made on grounds of public interest, all the teachers transferred and repatriated to their local cadre in this order shall be eligible for (i) TTA; and (ii) protection of their seniority in service.

(5) All the teachers who are repatriated as shown in the Annexure shall report to their respective District Collectors, who will issue posting orders in accordance with orders issued in G.O.Ms.No.45, School Education (Ser.V) Department, dated 06.07.2007. The Director of School Education, all the District Collectors in the State, and the District Educational Officers of all districts in the State shall take immediate necessary action to implement the above orders, relieve all the teachers now being transferred onrepatriation with immediate effect and report compliance.

(6) The District Educational Officers of each district shall submit daily progress reports to the Director of School Education on the progress of implementation of these repatriation and transfer orders, till the completion of the entire exercise, as follows:–

(i) Total number of teachers who are under repatriation and transfer from their

district;

(ii) Number of such Teachers relieved during the week;

(iii) Cumulative number of Teachers relieved till the end of week under report;

(iv) Total number of teachers who are under repatriation and transfer into their

district;

(v) Number of such Teachers who have reported on transfer into their district during the week;

(vi) Cumulative number of Teachers who have reported on transfer into their district till the end of the week under report.

(7)The District-wise lists of teachers repatriated on transfer into every District will be communicated separately.

Boxing Day is dating back to the century of which the primary practice is the giving of gifts to employees or to people in a lowersocial class. The name has numerous folk etymologies. It is usually celebrated on 26 December, the day after Christmas Day; however, its associated public holiday can be moved to the next weekday if 26 December is a Saturday or Sunday. The movement of Boxing Day varies between countries.

If Boxing Day falls on a Saturday, then Monday 28 December is declared a public holiday. In the United Kingdom and some other countries this is accomplished by Royal Proclamation. In Canada Boxing Day is a statutory holiday and is always celebrated on December 26th. As with all statutory holidays in Canada if it falls on a Saturday or Sunday, compensation days are given in the following week.

If Boxing Day falls on a Sunday, then in countries where it is a public holiday the Statutory Holiday is moved to Monday 27 December. In that event, Christmas Day would be on a Saturday, so Tuesday 28 December would be declared a holiday in lieu, that being the next available working day - thus the Boxing Day holiday occurs before the substitute Christmas holiday.

If Christmas Day falls on a Sunday, then Boxing Day is on Monday 26 December, and no Royal Proclamation is required. In such a circumstance, a 'substitute bank holiday in lieu of Christmas Day' is declared for Tuesday 27 December; again with the Boxing Day holiday occurring before the substitute Christmas holiday.
